A major focus of my writing has been correspondence.

Corresponding internet memes to mythological archetypes.

Corresponding tragedies to zodiacal rulers

Corresponding conspiracy theories to planets.

Etcetera.

Why do I do this?

For one thing, I have a particularly vicious Moon in Virgo deadset on systematizing symbolic logics, against my own romantic desires.

Beyond that, I seek the divine in things I am affected by, like memes, tragedies, conspiracies, and life in general.

The Interlude of Aleister Crowley’s Book 4 describes my ethos perfectly.

Every nursery rime contains profound magical secrets which are open to every one who has made a study of the correspondences of the Holy Qabalah. To puzzle out an imaginary meaning for this “nonsense” sets one thinking of the Mysteries; one enters into deep contemplation of holy things and God Himself leads the soul to a real illumination. Hence also the necessity of Incarnation; the soul must descend into all falsity in order to attain All-Truth.

So how do these silly planets and zodiac signs relate to the divine?

A Brief Cosmology

0 is God with a capital G, the Tao, Life, energy, Vibe.

But mysteriously, God cannot bear this insular zeroness.

So from nothing comes light, and it’s opposite, dark.

Thus, 0=2. This is how the Tao is Yin and Yang. The same process is described endlessly in religious texts.

2, in it’s lustful, fertile nature, reproduces itself, and makes…

4, thus the 4 elements. These are the 4 angels that surround the throne of God, the Younger Yin, Older Yin, Younger Yang and Older Yang, etc.

This is where Eastern and Western traditions diverge in their numerical gnosis.

For the East, 4 becomes 8. The 8 Trigrams of the I Ching.

For the West 4 becomes 7. The 7 Planets.

It only gets worse from there, but for now, this is an article about the 7.

Planets

The traditional Planets in astrology are 7.

The significance of these planets is beyond language, but I have done my best to illustrate them through correspondence.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The best way to glean these mysterious emanations of the Divine is through their influence, as they are some of the most primal archetypes, their influence is visible everywhere.

The Days

There are 7 days of the week, each named after a planet or God. Let’s look at their English names.

Monday- Day of the Moon

Tuesday- Day of Tyr, a God of War like Mars.

Wednesday- Day of Woden, a God of Magic like Mercury

Thursday- Day of Thor, a God of Thunder like Jupiter

Friday- Day of Frea, a Goddess of Beauty like Venus

Saturday- Day of Saturn

Sunday- Day of the Sun

If the similarity between the Norse and Roman Gods is not enough, just consider the Latin names for these days.

Tuesday is Martis

Wednesday is Mercurii

Thursday is Iovis (Jove is one of Jupiter’s names.)

Friday is Veneris

These also correspond pretty darn well to the Japanese days of the week

In the original Justice League of America there are 7 super heroes. Something “The Boys” names perfectly.

Superman is the Sun, the Solar powered Hero

Batman is Saturn, the Dark and gloomy Hero

Wonder Woman is the Moon, her name is Diana, come on.

Flash is Mercury, he has winged shoes

Green Lantern is Venus, this one may seem like a stretch, but the color of Venus is traditionally Green,

Martian Manhunter is Mars (duh)

Aquaman is Jupiter, you may be thinking well, Aquaman is clearly closer to Neptune! And you’d be right, I generally symbolically consolidate the Traditional Jupiter with his brothers Neptune and Pluto. So Aquaman is taking on his brothers correspondence for now.
