The theories regarding psychic distance, reapplied to the "rationalist community" ala "Sadly, Porn" (or how everything is like Porn): https://astralcodexten.substack.com/p/book-review-sadly-porn?r=dy4ag

TL;DR:

Psychologically unhealthy people don’t have desires in the normal sense. Wanting things is scary and forces action toward acquisition, lest one is viewed as a coward. Possibility of failure would make one perceived as low-status loser (see: Gervais Principle) who tries and fails. Mind-games of brief self-aggrandizing forms at the determent of instrumentalizing others. Through construction of "omnipotent entities", its decree can allow one act without stigma. Since everybody is covertly envious, there is widespread demand of limitation on human freedom. We are ruled by psychopathic elites (see: Gervais Principle), and the society of losers begged for oppression. Psychopaths negotiated for insignificant oppression as satiation, since they are rich and idle.

With reference to the Gervais Principle: https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2009/10/07/the-gervais-principle-or-the-office-according-to-the-office/

This poses some issues: instead of purely observing from castration (forms of physicality) vs oedipal (direct disciplinary forms) vs socialization, one has to point a finger at those "media-induced fetishes" as either a lack in certain basic acquisition of desires, for example nature (furries, mud, scatological) and congregation (hypnosis, uniform, serfdom), or those that are merely symbolic of status outside of the others, for example specificity of costumes as noted in the article, or braces as noted in M.A.

This "reclassification and typology of fetishes" can be seen in researches and surveys, which further points to sub-archtypes of visual fetishistic cues contra internal needs, it can be said that:

1. Those that was burdened by rejection (excess of fatherly abuse) suffers most from wrathful pride, and desires fetish of aggression, penetration of multiple forms, excretion of bodily fluids, and voyeurism. Castration anxiety and carnal Instincts ties heavily with this archetype, as does The Minotaur and its Darwinist "sexual selection".

2. Those that was burdened by abandonment (excess of motherly narcissism) suffers most from envy-lust, and desires vengeful fetish of male dominance, female submission, sadism, unorthodox positions, and "vore". The Zeus-like archetypal Tyrannical Father applies here, as does Moloch and its authoritarianism.

3. Those that was burdened by humiliation (lack of fatherly discipline) suffers most from glut and lust, and have apt desires fetish of collective sex, female dominance, male submission, sex toys, bondage, asphyxiation, and monstrous forms. Consumption, blind collectivism and transhumanism can be postured as the archetype of the Femme Fetal and the Devouring Mother i.e. Spider and its push of progressivism.

4. Those that was burdened by betrayal (lack of motherly love) suffers most from pride of avarice, and yet they have desires fetish of exhibition, humiliation, discipline, masochism, latex, and uniform. Disciplinary deindividuation and its rubber symbolic form is weirdly similar to the Alien and its uprooted globalist tendencies.

5. (bonus) Male dominance and Female dominance are orthogonal to one another, and are not exclusive to one another as feminism or chauvinists assumed. The aggregate of both has always have a leftward bent in prestige ("Cthulhu swims left"). The converse of masculine power is self-flagellation, whilst the converse of feminine power is surrender of bodily will.

Here is an insightful video on this matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaEHL3LPaf8

However it lacked the data on personality differences, differences in political beliefs, adverse childhood experiences and socio-economic status, intelligence, "dark traits", and likelihood of acquiring certain fetishes.
