The Fixed Stars

The fixed stars constitute the celestial sphere beyond the Zodiac, these are 4 of the primary 15 Behenian stars, the large central symbol in each of these are from Agrippa’s sigils.

I will not posture as an expert, I am trying to grasp them through my writing on them. From what I have gathered the Fixed Stars are very particular points on the wheel, and it is only through direct planetary or angular conjunction that they influence an individual. Their effects are acute and striking, rather than defused planetary energy.

I will write a bit on the 4 here.

Algorab, the Crow Star.

Its name is derived from the Arabic al-ghuraab or “the Crow” falls in the 13th degree of Libra. Mythologically, it is one of Apollo’s crows who in his laziness failed to deliver a cup to Jupiter, as he was hungry for figs.

Thus the star became one of greed and selfishness, according to Vivian Robson’s reading of Ptolemy.

The pictograph of the crow is the Bronze form of the Chinese character for Crow 烏.

Algol, the Demon Star

Its name is derived from the Arabic raʾs al-ghūl or “The Head of the Ghoul” is known to the Greeks as Caput Medusae, the Head of Medusa, and the the Jews as Rōsh ha Sāṭān, the Head of Satan. It falls in the 26th degree of Taurus.

I make this name ideogrammic with the Hebrew and Proto-Hebrew Resh ר, and Eliphas Levi’s depiction of starry Lucifer.

The text is something of a joke, as the old astrologers were very literal in their belief that an Algol conjunction was serious indication of death by beheading.
