Why They Correspond
Dr.G’s nuclear eightfold typology of oedipal identification perfectly mirrors the ancient Chinese divinatory text, the I Ching. How is this?
Both systems establish the Triad as their nucleus. The I Ching establishes a triad built on the duality of Yin and Yang, in regard to the Tao of Heaven, the Tao of Earth, and the Tao of Man. (One need not look too deeply to recognize Da, Ma and Me)
The creative ”possessive” current of Yang (Lingam) , and the receptive, “not having” current of Yin (Yoni).
The Oedipal Triad as advanced by Dr.G is divided along being/having and not being/not having.
The biogram is structured by three questions, the trigram by three coin tosses.
Thus the structures mirror each other not only in form but in content.
In short, Yang is being and having, Yin is not being and not having. The flows of these energies form identical triadic stations.
This esoteric triad is not reserved for the good Doctor or the Chinese. One finds the Triangle in the Egyptians “IAO”, where we see Mommy Isis, Child Aopophis, Daddy Osiris, and their endless cycling. And again in the triad of the Alchemists, Father Sulphur, Mother Salt, and Child Mercury.
