Giedi Prime: Dune, Astrology, and Meaning Making

Giedi Prime is the home world of the perversely cruel and industrial House Harkonnen in Dune, it is also a "fixed star” in astrology, occupying the 3rd degree of Aquarius.
Its name is derived from Arabic: Al Jady, the Goat, also the Slain Kid. Ptolemy stated its nature was of Venus and Mars. But little was said of it, as it was simply a star within the horns of Capricorn, not a great star like Sirius or Spica.
I believe that synchronistically Frank Herbert discerned the greater and more direct meaning of the real Giedi Prime through his fictional Dune (1965), namely that there is a clear association with advanced technology, industry, cruelty, hedonism, violence, and bizarre sexuality, especially the killing of children.
